Stitches used in this book
Straight stitch
Used to express fine, straight lines. You can also use it to make crosses to fill an area.
Back stitch
Used for straight lines. It can also be used to make beautiful curved lines.
Outline stitch
Used for lines. Depending on how much the stitches are layered, the line can be thick or thin.
* The stitches on pages 45 to 48 are all done with 3 strands of embroidery thread.
Chain stitch
Used for lines as well as to fill areas by going back and forth.
If you make the stitches small, the lines will be thin and delicate. If you make larger stitches, you can see the fabric underneath to create an interesting look.
